Hare Krishna! The Mantra, The Movement And The Swami Who Started It All

Hare Krishna! is a documentary on the life of Srila Prabhupada — the 70-year-old Indian Swami who arrived in America without support or money in the turbulent 1960s. With only his unflinching determination and faith, he ignited the worldwide spiritual phenomenon, now known as the Hare Krishna movement.

This is the true story of an unexpected, prolific, and at times controversial, revolutionary whose books have sold over 520 million copies and who has inspired millions of seekers and yoga enthusiasts worldwide. Using never-before-seen archival vérité, his own recorded words and interviews with scholars and his early followers, the film takes the audience behind-the-scenes of this spiritual movement to meet the Swami who started it all.

Brunswick Picture House History

After laying dormant for over 30 years, the curtains lifted on this old theatre in March 2016 and it began a new lease on life, lovingly restored by the creative team behind the award-winning, internationally-acclaimed circus/cabaret sensations “La Soirée” and “Club Swizzle.”

Having survived the wreckers’ ball and the ravages of time, this iconic building’s revival has set the stage for a vibrant and charismatic mix of film, circus, cabaret, music and family-friendly entertainment.

It is our desire to establish the Brunswick Picture House as a local landmark for the community, for people to meet, be inspired, gossip, laugh and be entertained. Dedicated to putting the fun back into going to a show or the cinema, the Brunswick Picture House has re-emerged — re-imagined and better than ever.
